Electrochemical Cells
All electrochemical cells have several common features:
1) They have two electrodes:
AnodeñThe oxidation half-reaction takes place at the anode.
CathodeñThe reduction half-reaction takes place at the cathode.
2) The electrodes are immersed in an electrolyte, an ionic solution
containing a mixture of ions that conduct electricity.
