The DVC Organic Chemistry Academic, Research & Career (ARC) Working Group
The ARC:Chem 298 program is available for all DVC Chem 226/227 students.
The program aims to:
< Put Organic Chemistry into a “real-world”context.
< Provide benefits from the experience of organic chemists in industry.
< Have people help you make better informed career decisions.
< Practice and apply the lab skills learned in Chem 226/Chem 227.
< Do independent study (Chem 298) as a summer research project directed by industrial scientists with “real-world” applications before transferring.
< Develop a foundation in research that will transfer with you to upper division, graduate, medical and other professional programs; distinguishing you from most of your peers.
The Spring/ Summer2005 research project was the isolation and identification of bio-active plant natural product that has led to commercial products including an orphan drug used to treat tyrosine anemia.
